Secondary School Business and Enterprise Resource >

RaceDay uses horse racing as a basis for teaching business and enterprise at key stages 3 and 4

RaceDay is a free interactive resource from the world of horse racing for students to practise their enterprise skills.  The British Horse Racing website is an exciting, engaging and interactive resource which aims to extend learning in a number of areas related to Enterprise education within the context of British horseracing. The resource is aimed at 11–16 year olds, Key Stage 3 and 4 and directly linked to Enterprise Education in England, Wales and Scotland.

In the Training Zone, students will have the chance to learn all about the growing world of horseracing, as well as the sorts of decisions that people in business have to make and the financial, business and economic skills that everybody needs for work. There will be many opportunities to take part in quizzes, design work, decision-making, teamwork and evaluation.

In the RaceDay game students will have the chance to be a racecourse manager, where they can create and operate their own racecourse in an online simulation and game, using a range of information and interactive tools. Students can also see what it is like to be a racehorse owner and prepare their own racehorse for a big race.

Topping off the website is an excellent Teachers Area, including curriculum links and learning objectives, and a careers advice section.
