CV Builder and Careers Advice and Information for a Careers Lesson from Reed Recruitment

The Reed Recruitment website has a Career Tools section that, whilst aimed at job seekers of all ages, has some use for those school leavers or pupils thinking about planning their career.  There is a useful CV Builder which could be used in a Careers lesson to aid students in creating their first Curriculum Vitae or, if the lesson cannot be online, there are downloadable CV templates that can be used as part of your Careers lesson plan.  No CV is complete without a covering letter and students skills in writing these can be honed with the use of downloadable covering letter templates.  Finally in the CV section is a nod to new technology, a video CV!  The link goes to a video recording service from Reed Recruitment and a discussion on video CV's could add an interesting dimension to a Careers lesson!

Away from CV's, the section on Jobseeking has some excellent materials that could be useful in a Careers lesson, including an Interview Simulator and Trainer so that students can experience what could be their first interview; a Personality Profiler and lots of hints and tip about looking for a job.  Finally, in their Financial section there is a Salary Calculator (based on the jobs they have in their database).  All in all, although not an educational website, the Reed Recruitment Career Tools section certainly has it's uses and is well worth checking out.
