The National Osteoporosis Society website Bones 4 Life promotes bone health for 7 to 10 year oldsThe Bones 4 Life website has been designed by the National Osteoporosis Society to promote the teaching and learning of bone health for 7-10 year olds and there are also activities that can easily be adapted for a younger audience.
The website is divided into two sections. One is designed for teachers and hosts a variety of free teaching resources, lesson plans and assemblies to enhance teaching and learning of bone health. The second section is for children and provides interactive games to enhance their learning of bone health. The site is designed to be used in school but children can also choose to play on it at home.
The teachers section has guidance on how bone health can be integrated into the curriculum at Key Stage 2 across many subject areas, such as English, Citizenship, PSHE, PE and Science. To support this there are 2 main areas for teachers - Learning Activities holds downloadable Lesson Plans and Assemblies; Resource Library hosts all the extra resources that teachers can use to support and motivate the children to learn, including video clips, photos and task sheets.
