Gapwork.com is a leading website, informing young people about taking a gap year

Taking a gap year is perhaps one of the most daunting but rewarding decisions a school leaver can take, whether this is daunting for the leaver or their parents is another matter entirely, but the fact remains that a gap year is a big step.  Gapwork.com exists to take the unknown out of that step as much as possible by providing the visitor with information and advice on gap year planning. 

The site, run by PDC Education, contains advice on preparing for a gap year, profiles of companies who will do the work for you, lists of volunteering and work abroad opportunities, and a case study area so that students can read about other peoples experiences.

For parents there are sections on Insurance, Health and Safety and Communication!  The site is mainly aimed at 18 year olds leaving school so is a good resource for Careers Teachers wanting to communicate the benefits of taking a gap year between school and University or starting out in the working world.
