Celebrate World Teacher’s Day Today 5th October
Wednesday 5th October 2011
Since 1994 World Teachers’ Day is celebrated on 5 October. UNESCO and Education International join forces to celebrate the teaching profession globally, and to promote international standards for the teaching profession. This year’s theme for World Teachers Day is “Teachers for gender equality.” The problem of inequality remains a major issue in teaching despite the profession largely being made up of women.
Created by UNESCO in 1994, World Teachers Day celebrates teachers worldwide. Its aim is to mobilise support for teachers and to ensure that the needs of future generations will continue to be met by teachers.
