Every Child Matters Teaching Resources
Sunday 18th July 2010
Cards for Little Lives is a unique resource for teachers to use with primary children to discuss familiar dilemmas and moral questions in a safe and creative way as part of personal, social and health education (PSHE) or to support learning through the SEAL resource.
Framed by the five "Every Child Matters" outcomes, the cards are presented as powerpoint slides to facilitate use in classrooms with interactive whiteboard technology. Blank slides are provided to allow teachers to build cards that meet their own children’s needs and colour-coded slides are available to enable teachers to extend and expand their own collection.
It was produced by the National Children’s Bureau with funding from The Equitable Charitable Trust and Atticmedia, who provided their expertise in online resource development and design.
The website is grouped into five themes based on outcomes that were identified by children and young people as "key to well-being in childhood and later life" and shaped the core of "Every Child Matters". The themes are: Health; Safety; Achievement; Contribution; and Economic well-being. There is a useful Teacher guide, which contains a slideshow on how to make the most of this unique resource.
