Send a Cow is a charity that helps African farmers out of poverty. They work hand in hand with farmers so that they can grow enough food to feed their families, sell produce and develop small businesses that last. Send a Cow provide training, livestock, seeds and ongoing support; and help families to make the most of the land and resources they already have.

The Send a Cow website has an excellent "Africa topic" education area that is full of award winning teaching resources that will enrich your school with a global dimension. These practical ideas and projects help bring Africa to life, through fun, hands-on learning that is especially suited to Eco-Schools.

You can also find out how your school can help support the work that Send a Cow do, there are plenty of ideas on the website, including a "Poosday Tuesday"!. Their charity gift catalogue gives kids a clear target for raising money, especially in the run up to Christmas. Whether they want to aim to raise enough money for a goat, cow, tools or keyhole gardens, there are plenty of gifts for your class to choose from. Some schools also encourage donations as an alternative to end of term presents for teachers!
