Free Business Studies Lesson Plans

Friday 29th October 2010

Dogs Trust believe that by educating young people about the responsibilitiesand commitment involved in dog ownership, they can reduce the number of dogs thatare mistreated and abandoned.  Their experience shows that teaching compassion, care and respect towardsanimals can enrich childrens lives in many ways.

Bursting with ideas, their education programme and Learn with Dogs website is National Curriculum linkedand offers a fresh perspective on looking after dogs; with stimulatingactivities and comprehensive teacher guidance.

There is a useful PDF available that has been developed with Business Studies teachers to support the teaching of Business Studies for GCSE, Standard Grade and VGCSE. It uses real information and materials produced by Dogs Trust, the largest dog welfare charity in the UK.

Primary resources available for 5 to 11 year olds range from story based assembly ideas to literacy and numeracy lesson plans and activities - all related to caring for dogs.  Secondary resources available for 11 to 16 year olds range from a history of dogs in war to studies of Dogs Trust activities covering English, Citizenship and Business Studies curricula.

As well as the downloadable lesson plans and other teaching resources, the Dogs Trust website also has online activities for children of all ages and a teachers guidance area.  Theres also a free CD Rom available.
