Statistics for schools

An excellent resource provided by the National Office of Statistics, with stats and reports chosen specifically because they will be of more interest to young people. Find out about most popular names, population growth, and TV viewing habits of the nation. Each topic includes lesson plans, starter exercises, worksheet and relevant data.

stats4schools is a website designed to help teachers and pupils understand and get more from statistics. For teachers, there are lesson plans and worksheets, which are free to download and use in class. For pupils, the website has datasets to download and include in projects, free of charge.

Free Lesson Plans on offer include: Baby Names - how popular is your name; Family Spending - how much does your family spend; Population - what is the population like in your area; Probability - what are the chances of being born a boy.  All lessons are linked to the key stage 3 and 4 curriculum and are designed to present a fun method of teaching statistics.
