Explore the theme of conflict resolution

This resource aims to promote cooperation and conflict resolution, both locally and globally. The pack comprises a poster and some accompanying lesson plans. The activities are graded in order of complexity, and are designed to be used in a classroom to explore the theme of conflict resolution and the role that working together has to play in this.

Teacher Review:

Anne Krisman, head of RE at Little Heath Foundation School reviews Save the Children’s We Work Together – Can You?

We Work Together – Can You? consists of twelve accessible sets of teaching activities, graded from KS1 to 5. These aim to promote co-operation and conflict resolution, locally and globally.  Teachers and youth workers can also download the poster that accompanies the resource, or order a free one from Save the Children.

There are plenty of practical ideas in the resource that will get pupils active and using thinking skills to explore conflict resolution. Some ideas are fully worked through and are immediately accessible – I liked the idea of children jumping into circles drawn on the playground to show agreement with a range of statements. These show that there are ways in which we differ but also significant things that we all share and must respect. This lively activity puts a key idea across with immediacy.

Save the Children’s We Work Together – Can You?  explores some important issues that need to be tackled in schools. Teachers always jump at free quality resources, and will welcome this contribution to the classroom from an organisation known for its integrity and commitment to children all over the world.
