Free Resources from Project Britain about the 2012 Olympics
With the London 2012 Olympics only 44 days away, Primary and Secondary School teachers are after resources about the event. Project Britain has some brilliant free teaching resources that cover different aspects of the Olympics. There are worksheets, images and links to other sites that talk about the Olympic Rings (symbolism, colours), the Flame (meaning) and more.
There is a blank world map so pupils can identify where the great event has been previously held. This improves their knowledge and their skills in Geography. Other maps show London’s city centre and bus routes.
Paralympics
For those wishing to know about the Paralympics then this site will be helpful. For Art & Design there are images that were used in the 2008 Beijing Paralympics, which will be adapted for London 2012.
Activity Ideas
Project Britain present their own ideas for activities in different subjects. They suggest that teachers create tasks about writing rules, devising speeches, percentages of medals won, devise a spreadsheet of medals won from other countries and more.
