First aid is a basic life skill that all young people can learn.

First aid teaching materials from the British Red Cross are designed so that any educator can use them, even if you are unfamiliar with the subject.         

To support your delivery of basic first aid education, use our selection of free DVDs, video clips, sample lessons and handy first aid tips. Our comprehensive and attention-grabbing range of resources helps you to engage young people in a variety of ways.

What the PSHE guidance says...
The Personal, Social, and Health Education guidance (England) for key stage 3 includes,  "recognising and reducing risk, minimising harm and getting help in emergency and risky situations" and "a knowledge of basic first aid". The guidance for key stage 4 includes "ways of reducing risk and minimising harm in risky situations, how to find sources of emergency help and how to use basic and emergency first aid: For example, the recovery position and resuscitation techniques."
