Energy Chest contains helpful information on the teaching of energy within schools.
Learning and Teaching Resources
Energy Chart provides information and activities to support the teaching and learning of energy in schools. It includes basic information on energy and the uses of energy. It covers three key topics: energy in buildings, energy and the environment and energy sources. The resources on the website can be used to complement current schemes of work for Science at Key Stage 3.
Energy in Buildings
The energy in buildings aspect of the website contains a bank of ideas for examining temperature in different areas. This encourages practical investigation and promotes the development of pupils’ skills, knowledge and understanding in scientific enquiry. There are worksheets for carrying out a survey of lighting and for determining whether energy is being used efficiently in the school.
Information on Energy
Information on the use of energy in transport and energy in the environment can be found. There are suggested exercises for pupils to complete to determine their understanding of content and any issues.
