Excellent Lesson Plans And Resources For Citizenship With Cross-Curricular Links Related To Parliament
There are a series of lesson plans that support Citizenship, but also provide other cross-curricular links.
Suffragettes forms one topic, which encourages children to think about inequalities. There are clear cross-curricular links to History as children learn about the position of women in the past and how their actions brought about change. This can be a starting point for thinking about inequality and appropriate responses in the world today.
Guy Fawkes and the Gunpowder Plot forms another topic with children considering what people can do if they want to engage with Parliament and the ways that they should or should not go about doing this. The lesson plans layer the learning outcomes to support differentiation and identify useful prior learning and misconceptions that children may have in order to support teaching.
There are also differentiation strategies clearly identified in the planning to enable all children to access the content and move towards appropriate learning outcomes. PowerPoints are also provided, which can be used on an interactive whiteboard, so this website can reduce the amount of preparation time needed!
