Shaun the Sheep
The Shaun the Sheep game allows KS1 children to develop their hand-eye coordination through mouse skills.
Learning and Teaching Resources
In Key Stage 1, children develop their ability to manipulate icons on-screen using a mouse. They become more able to coordinate hand and eye when completing tasks. This website provides a selection of interactive games and activities that can be useful in developing basic skills in using a mouse and exploring how items on-screen are manipulated.
Games and Activities
‘Me And My Donkey’ is a game in which children must care for an animal and it requires them to follow simple online instructions as to how to navigate the screen. ‘Home Sheep Home’ is a game in which sheep must be guided across a terrain. It involves children using the cursor keys in order to move characters in different ways. This is a good way of them understanding the function of the cursor keys and using combinations to achieve a goal.
There are also other games and activities that will engage children in developing basic skills with the mouse and keyboard.
