Free Art & Design KS3 Teaching Resources for Secondary Teachers
The National Curriculum for Art & Design
Sometimes even the most organised Art and Design teacher needs a little help with their lesson planning and preparation. Few people have the luxury of hours to spend browsing the Internet for great free resources so we have done that for you; selecting only those resources that we thought would be of genuine use to art teachers. Most have been created by well known organisations and galleries. The resources need to be tailored for the appropriate age group and linked to the national curriculum programme of study at key stage three. So a creative art teacher can browse this page, download the worksheets or activities that they need, bookmark any online games that might be of use and use them to enrich their own materials.
Teaching Art and Unleashing Your Students Confidence
Students in years 7,8 and 9 will be using art resources which are based on traditional and new media, including ICT. They will be improving their confidence working with new ideas and their competence with tools and techniques. At this key stage you can really unleash their imagination and creativity as their technique and skill will be developed enough to express their ideas and emotions. They will be able to develop their own ideas through Art and Design and begin to use craft skills, thinking and acting as artists, craftspeople and designers. At this age children become more confident about being more experimental in their approach, and their choice of media, and are able to explain their reasons for their chosen media and pieces of work.
Fine Examples of Art in the Digital Age
The digital age means you can show students, via the internet, fantastic examples of art and design that traditionally you had to have a class visit to view. Many of the great galleries and museums have purpose made teaching materials that do a lot of the leg work for you. You don’t have to feel as if you are constantly searching for new resources, as this page makes a great starting point for free teaching activities at key stage 3.
