Sometimes even the most organised teacher needs a little help with their lesson planning and preparation. Few people have the luxury of hours to spend browsing the Internet for great free resources, so we have done that for you, selecting only those resources that we thought would be of genuine use to art teachers, from well known organisations. The resources need to be tailored for the appropriate age group and linked to the national curriculum programme of study at key stage three. So a creative art teacher can browse this page, download the worksheets or activities that they need, bookmark any online games that might be of use, and use them to enrich their own materials.
Students in years 7,8 and 9 will be using art resources which are based on traditional and new media, including ICT. They will be improving their confidence working with new ideas and their competence with tools and techniques. At this key stage you can really unleash their imagination and creativity, as their technique and skill will be developed enough to really express their ideas and emotions. They will be able to develop their own ideas through art and design, and begin to use craft skills, thinking and acting as artists, craftspeople and designers. At this age children become more confident about being more experimental in their approach, and their choice of media, and are able to explain their reasons for their media and pieces of work. For all of these reasons teaching art at key stage 3 is immensely rewarding, but you don’t have to feel as if you are constantly searching for new resources, as this page makes a great starting point for free teaching activities at key stage three.
